RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – Dawn gradually reveals itself in stages, and with each passing moment hues change as primordial rise of sun climbs steadily above cloudbank vanquishing night.

With every sunrise the world is created anew.  Sunrise speaks a spiritual language no words can truly describe, bathing earth with warmth and light. Daybreak inspires and renews, bestowing rays of hope at this magical crepuscular hour.

There is something inexpressibly wonderful as dark cedes to color, lighting the crack between the worlds and opening the door of the day. It has been said that we can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited for it in darkness, and then dawn miraculously bursts forth with unbridled joy of being fully alive.

Sunrise has secrets to share, if only we are willing to listen. Earth swells with morning symphony of birdsong and humming of incalculable insects. South Texas is renowned for its stunning sunrises, and from ancient meanderings of the Rio Grande to the shores of South Padre Island varied vistas beckon.

Out on the vast coastal prairie, coyote chorus greets dawn, as towering yuccas stretch for morning sky. Along the island, ceaseless roll of tide flows onto shell-strewn beach as a lone pelican soars just above sunlit surf.

Fog shrouded dawn summons the early rising traveler to venture down misty senderos while enchanting birdsong welcomes the day. Every sunrise holds promise of a new day.  The inexorable rise of sun reminds us that time is moving forward, and that hope, and change are on the horizon.

There is a sunrise every single day, and they are absolutely free. All you really have to do is take time to savor sunrise, and it will surely soothe your soul. While the enthralling vision of sunrise soars ephemeral, dawn’s glow can simmer in our hearts forever.
