EDINBURG, Texas — Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents seized a large amount of cocaine and marijuana over three days.
According to a release, agents at the Javier Vega, Jr. Checkpoint were alerted by a K-9 to a pick-up truck on May 1. After further investigation, agents discovered bundles of cocaine weighing 7.1 pounds, valued at more than $220,000.
On Saturday agents made two additional seizures.
A release states agents working in Rio Grande City responded to the Roma Port of Entry on a report of individuals crossing the border. At the location, agents found 46 pounds of marijuana. The release states they did not locate the suspects.
Also, agents from the Fort Brown station recovered four bundles of marijuana, weighing 94 pounds, after smugglers fled to Mexico, said the release.
Early Monday morning, agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint, referred a Ford F-150 to secondary inspection, which revealed 17 bundles of marijuana, weighing 304 pounds. According to the release, the driver was arrested.
