According to the latest hatchlings report from Sea Turtle Inc., it has been a record-breaking year for sea turtles nesting along Cameron County Beaches.

The activity has been brisk at both South Padre Island and Boca Chica Beach. So far close to 90 nests have been saved. That is important, because it is a race to save the species. The biggest impact is during the height of the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle nesting season. Sea turtles swim thousands of miles and only come out of the water to nest or because of injury.
