Recent Rains Give Temporary Relief from Heat

Local News

Most of the Rio Grande Valley experienced some wide spread rain recently. In some areas a relief after almost two months without any rain.

The National Weather Service says it is not unusual to get temporary relief from the heat in August. The two inches that fell in places like Elsa and Edcouch may not be enough to make a difference. Especially when the rain is not expected to stay.

Barry Goldsmith, National Weather Service says, “It’s only a temporary difference. In fact we are still considered abnormally dry and unless we were to get a widespread 2-3 inches of rain in the next few days, the answer is we’re not going to change that condition. We’ll remain abnormally dry, we won’t worsen it.”

According to the NWS another dry spell is to come.
