Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD broke ground on two playground improvement projects Monday morning.
The district is improving playgrounds at Edith & Ethel Carman Elementary in San Juan and Santos Livas Elementary in Alamo. It’s part of the district’s plan to improve 1-2 playgrounds each year. The improvements include: exercise stations, restroom facilities, basketball courts, lighted walking trails and much more.
“This will give our students a better playground to enjoy. This is going to be great for our community. We want our kids to have a beautiful area to play during and after school,” said School Board President Jesse Zambrano in a press release.
Superintendent of Schools, Jorge L. Arredondo, added, “we want to make sure our students have healthy bodies and healthy minds.”
Both projects cost more than $1.9 million and are expected to be complete by May 2020.
