PHARR – The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District said all their high schools are participating in their respective virtual band camps.
The district said hundreds of students are participating via Google Classrooms to ensure their practices are safe and effective.
“Our district is home to the most passionate students out there,” said PSJA ISD Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo. “I want to applaud our Fine Arts Program for working to ensure our students have a safe place to practice their craft.”
Similar to in-person practices, students and directors are able to see each other, catch up, share quarantine stories and continue to work toward their goals, said the district.
The district added that during the virtual band camps, students are able to learn music for their marching show and the Texas Music Educators Association competition, as well as practice their marching techniques.
PSJA ISD asks parents who need more information about the virtual band camps can reach out to their child’s respective band director or email jon.taylor@psjaisd.us.
