Two seniors participating on the PSJA Early College Program accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University received full ride scholarships, said a press release form the district.
The district announced in a release Mariano Salcedo, from PSJA Southwest Early College High School was accepted to MIT. He will be graduating with an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Melanny Garcia from PSJA North Early College High School, was accepted to Stanford. She will be graduating with an Associate degree in Mathematics.
“Thank you to my PSJA Family for the Early College Program,” said Salcedo in a press release. “I know knowledge transfers anywhere and the program has prepared me for the all future rigorous classes I will need to take. PSJA gives us everything we need to succeed. We just need to take advantage of the opportunities.”
According to the release, both are expected to graduate from South Texas College with their Associate Degrees in May 2020.
The scholarships were received through QuestBridge National College Match, said the release.
