Pre trial for Brownsville Man Accused of Killing Parents is Postponed

Local News

The pre trial hearing originally scheduled for January 5 has been postponed for a Brownsville man accused of killing his parents with an ax.

52-year-old Joel Collazo was indicted in February 2016 on capital murder charged for the deaths of Jesus Collazo Sr. and Juanita Collazo. Their bodies were found by police back in January at 100 block of west Los Ebanos in Brownsville after a welfare concern from another son.

According to police, Collazo later admitted to killing his father. The pre-trial date is now scheduled for January 12th. For now, Collazo remains in jail on a $2 million bond.
