PORT ISABEL, Texas (KVEO) — The Port Isabel Police Department is warning residents of a scheme targeting mainly the elderly.

The department states they have received several calls about checks being delivered by several mail carries.

Police urge residents to not fall for the scheme and advise that the checks are fake.

A Facebook post mentions that most fake checks come in the form of business or personal checks, cashier’s checks, money orders or a check delivered electronically.

The department provided the following photo as an example of checks they have received.
