Deputies arrested two men after shots were fired at a car wash Rio Grande City Monday night.
The incident happened at about 7:40 p.m. at the Power Strike car wash located a N. Flores Street and E. Ringgold Street.
A woman told authorities that she and her husband were at the car wash when a friend arrived with his truck.
At one point, two men pulled up to the scene and began pounding on the man’s truck, according to Lt. Jose Solis with the Rio Grande City Police Department. The two suspects were identified as Daniel Escamilla and Peewee Moreno, according to Solis. While the man tried to drive away, Escamilla pointed a handgun and opened fired, according to Solis. Bullets hit the man’s truck, but no one was injured.
The suspects fled, but were later pulled over by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper. Escamilla and Moreno were arrested and weapons were recovered.
Escamilla is charged with attempted murder, a second-degree felony, and violation of protective order. His bond was set at $55,000.
Moreno is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony. His bond was set at $175,000.
Both remained at the Starr County jail Tuesday afternoon and could not be reached for comment.
