Police say one person is in custody in connection to disappearance of well-known Harlingen attorney

Harlingen, Texas (KVEO)—Harlingen police say one person was taken into custody after the remains of a well-known Harlingen attorney were found.

Salomon Campos Jr. was charged with aggravated kidnapping, murder and stalking.

Campos was arraigned and was given a bond of $1 million for murder and $110,000 for the other two charges.

The remains of Ernesto Gonzalez, well known as “El Gallito” were found on Wednesday along Kansas City Road in La Feria

Police says the cause of death is yet to be determined. No other arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

A press conference will be held Friday morning in relation to the case.

Gonzalez had been missing since 2017.

Gonzales’s family confirmed to KVEO-TV on Wednesday that officials matched the found remains to Gonzales by using dental records.
