MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Mission Police Department is addressing the arrest of two police officers this weekend.
In a statement, Mission Police Chief Cesar Torres confirms the arrest of Officer Arturo Casanova. Torres says Casanova was arrested on South Padre Island for disorderly conduct.
Alamo Police Chief Ricardo Ozuna confirmed the arrest of Sgt. Adan Beltran. Beltran was arrested at 7a.m. Saturday morning for public intoxication.
Chief Ozuna adds Beltran was found sitting in a stolen car. No other details on Beltran’s arrest have been released.
In a statement, Torres says, “I am committed to preserving the public’s confidence and trust in the Mission Police Department. We will continue to investigate any and all allegations of employee misconduct, and I will take the necessary and appropriate actions to maintain accountability and transparency to the citizens we serve.”
Casanova and Beltran are both on administrative leave with pay.
Torres says the department is performing an internal investigation.
