Police department hosting child car seat safety event

Local News

EDINBURG, Texas – The Edinburg Police Department will be hosting a car seat safety awareness event this Saturday. Officers will teach you how to properly install a car seat along with inspecting them and making sure it’s not expired or part of a recall. New car seats will also be given to those who qualify on a first come first serve basis.

Officer Balde Gomez, Edinburg Police Department, “Our goal that day is to reach as many people as we can. It’s not a car seat give away event, it’s a car seat checkup event. You also need to bring your child/children that are in the car seat with the car seat that you already have because again we need to make sure that if your car seat is still good, you’re going to keep it and then if you end up getting a car seat that the TXDOT is giving out because you qualify the car seat is absolutely free.”

The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 8th at 9:00 a.m. at the Richard R. Flores Stadium.
