Police chase in Sullivan City ends in fatal crash

LA JOYA, Texas (KVEO) — A 17-year-old is dead after a police chase ended in a one-vehicle crash that took place on FM 886 Monday night.

The incident began when police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop for a traffic violation. Officials say when the vehicle came to stop, three to five individuals exited the vehicle. The driver then continued driving.

The officer began following the driver resulting in chase that ended near La Joya.

Authorities say the driver lost control and crashed into a palm tree.

Officials say the driver was transported to a hospital, where he died on Tuesday.

According to a release, the individuals that exited the vehicle were not located.
