Police arrest man for burglarizing parking meters

A man is arrested on burglary charges after he is caught by an officer breaking into downtown parking meters.

On Tuesday, August 18th at around 5 a.m. an officer patrolling on the 500 block of E. 9th Street observed a man breaking into a parking meter.

When the officer approached, the suspect fled on foot and after a short pursuit he was detained and questioned. The suspect was identified as Juan Recio III, 29, who was found in possession of coins in his pockets and admitted to the officer of breaking into two parking meters.

Recio was arrested, charged with two counts of burglary of a coin operated machine, criminal mischief, and evading arrest.
