For the 16th consecutive year the McAllen Crime Stoppers is giving back to families this Thanksgiving Holiday.

This morning 150 Thanksgiving meals with all the trimmings were given away in front of the McAllen Police Department. The department partnering with H-E-B is making the holidays a little brighter for families in need.

The families receiving the meals were pre-selected by the police department and McAllen ISD based on need.

Pablo Treviño, McAllen Crime Stoppers VP says, “We’re very excited. This is the time of the year that we give back to the community. They help us so much throughout the year fighting the crime here. Making McAllen the safest city to live in and happy to have partners to help. We’re working with such as H-E-B that help us each year to put this event together to give back.”

McAllen Police Department also hosted their 2nd annual Turkey or Ticket campaign where unsuspecting drivers are stopped and given a turkey instead of a ticket.
