A motorist struck a 9-year-old boy Monday night in Palmview, leaving him in critical condition.
At about 10:45 p.m. Monday, police responded to the intersection of La Homa Road and the westbound Expressway 83 frontage road, according to information provided by Palmview police Chief Chris Barrera.
Investigators determined a mother and her four children were walking to a Stripes convenience store when the boy ran ahead.
A beige GMC Sierra struck the boy, according to police. The driver stopped to help, and paramedics transported the boy to McAllen Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
