Police released new details Sunday about a fatal fire in Port Isabel.
The blaze killed 54-year-old John Schartel, said city police Chief Robert Lopez.
At 3:07 a.m. Saturday, dispatchers received a call about a trailer burning near the intersection of Bridge Street and Railroad Avenue. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
A justice of the peace pronounced Schartel dead and requested an autopsy.
The fire remains under investigation.
