5:04 p.m. Update: Investigators have located the vehicle involved in the shooting, according to information provided by police Chief Chris Barrera.

9:30 a.m. Update:

Investigators believe a botched cocaine deal may have resulted in the execution-style murder of two women early Sunday morning in Palmview.

At about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a shots fired call on Eastview Circle — located near the intersection of East Goodwin Road and Mile 2 Road.

Investigators found two young women sprawled on the road. Both had suffered gunshot wounds to the head, said police Chief Chris Barrera.

“One of them still had a slight pulse, but the paramedics weren’t able to revive her,” Barrera said.

Investigators haven’t identified the women, who may be Mexican citizens.

One of the two women had four packages of cocaine strapped to her body, Barrera said, adding that he didn’t know exactly how much cocaine investigators found. The packages were not for street sale.

Investigators believe the women were riding in a red Ford Mustang, a red Chevrolet Camaro or a similar-looking red passenger vehicle.

“When they got them out of the vehicle, they shot them in the head,” Barrera said.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the homicide to call Palmview Crime Stoppers at (956) 584-TIPS.
