Pilot Deceased After Plane Strikes Power Line and Crashes

Local News

A small plane crash between Harlingen and Combes claims the life of a local pilot.

DPS troopers responded to the deadly crash involving a crop-duster around 10:45 this morning.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration says the aircraft struck a power line, crashing into a field.

The FAA is now investigating this crash.

“The name of the individual is not being revealed at this moment. Federal Aviation Administration will release that information at a later time. We do have additional personnel from different agencies responding to this scene to contain the chemicals that were spilled, and we also have the light company out responding to the scene.” Said Maria Montalvo a DPS spokeswoman.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and will oversee the investigation.

Authorities have identified the pilot as Bernard Rowland the second.
