Pharr Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a cold case murder. It involves the mysterious death of a 22-year-old man from Edinburg more than 15 years ago. It was on Saturday, June 2, 2001 that officers found the body of Ricardo Mejia in an orchard. The discovery followed a 911 call to the intersection of Sugar and Minnesota roads.
Sgt. Michael Mendoza of the Pharr PD says, “A preliminary investigation was conducted at the time, and there is some information in reference to a small passenger car leaving the scene at around the time of the murder.”
