A volunteer with the Pharr Boys & Girls Club is facing criminal charges after being accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl who went there.

Pharr Police Chief Ruben Villescas confirmed that officers arrested 22-year-old Andres Escobedo on a sexual assault of a child charge Thuresday.

Chief Villescas said the girl’s mother came forward with the allegations on Wednesday.

Investigators believe that Escobedo had sex with the girl at her home while her parents were away.

Escobedo appeared before a Pharr municipal judge on Friday where he was issued a $75,000 dollar bond.
