Petition to Reclassify Agent’s Death Short on Signatures

Local News

A petition to reclassify the passing away of a border patrol agent as a “line of duty” death, will end in one day. It is still missing more than 95,000 signatures.

The National Border Patrol Council began the petition early this month in an effort to get a response from the White House on Javier Vega Jr.’s case. Vega died two years ago when he was fishing with his family near Willacy County. Two illegal immigrants tried robbing them at gun point. He was killed in the exchange of gun fire. Reclassifying the fallen agent’s death would give him recognition and benefits to the family he left behind. You can find it on petitions.whitehouse.gov
