The parents of 18-year-old Justin Walker — who went missing on Saturday after attending a concert on South Padre Island — have positively identified his body in Mexico.

A body matching Walker’s description was recovered at about 3 a.m. Wednesday between Playa Azul and Playa Jilguerillas in Matamoros, according to a news release by Cameron County Park Ranger Chief Horacio Zamora.

The teen’s parents were taken to Mexico Thursday to determine whether the body was that of 18-year-old Walker. They made a positive identification at about 5 p.m.

The Garza Memorial Funeral Home will transport the body back to the United States. An autopsy will be performed at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

The case remains open, pending further investigation and the results of the autopsy.
