Local News

Many gather for the unveiling of a portrait of Former Cameron County Judge Gilberto Hinojosa.

Hinojosa served a County Judge from 1995 to 2006.

During his time in office, Hinojosa worked on many projects such as the creation of Health Clinics, the Restoration of the Dancy Building and was involved in the completion of Los Tomates International Bridge.

“if you want to honor me then vote, that’s all I ask for. I mean, I don’t need pictures hung on buildings I need to see people participating in a democratic process and really make this a true democracy when only 30 percent of registered voters in South Texas vote…,” says Former Cameron County Judge Gilberto Hinojosa.

South Texas Historically has had low voter turnouts.

This painting will be housed at the Dancy Courthouse in Brownsville.
