BROWNSVILLE, Texas (KVEO) — The Brownsville Navigation District will be awarding 32 local high school seniors a $1,000 scholarship through the Port of Brownsville organization.
The scholarship recipients were selected for their academic performance, community involvement, extracurricular activities and work experience.
A release mentions the students were selected from the 16 public and private high schools in the Brownsville area.
“On behalf of the entire Port of Brownsville organization, we are proud to support these local students and families at this time,” said John Reed, Chairman of the Brownsville Navigation District in the release. “We are excited for the students as they continue their education and begin their careers, and in the future opportunities they are creating for themselves, their families and our communities.”
The release adds the students will be receiving their scholarships when they enroll.
