One shot during bank robbery in Harlingen

Harlingen, Texas (KVEO)– Harlingen Police says a teller was shot during a bank robbery that took place Friday morning.

Officials say the robbery occurred just before 10 a.m. at the Texas Regional Bank.

A witness told police that a man entered the Texas Regional bank, wearing a mask, took out a gun and shot the bank teller.

The suspect demanded money from another bank teller at the window. After receiving the money, the man fled the scene on a bicycle.

The suspect was later located on Ed Carey and 25th. He had a black handgun and a black bag with a large amount of money inside. He was arrested for aggravated robbery and transported to the Harlingen City jail.

The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
