Investigators arrested an Edinburg man last week after he kidnapped a waitress and sexually assaulted her, according to Edinburg Municipal Court records.
At about 2 a.m. on Oct. 9, the waitress left work, according to the criminal complaint. The waitress recognized a customer, 27-year-old Andrew Salazar Ramos of Edinburg, who offered her a ride home.
CBS 4 News is withholding details about the crime to preserve the woman’s anonymity.
Ramos, though, drove the waitress to the nearby Walmart parking lot and started to sexually assault her, according to the criminal complaint. The waitress fought back, but Ramos overpowered her.
“She said Andrew then placed his hands around her neck and began to squeeze it to the point she passed out,” according to the criminal complaint.
Ramos called his girlfriend, who met him at the Walmart parking lot, according to the criminal complaint. The girlfriend said Ramos pulled out a gun and forced her to drive the unconscious waitress to a ranch.
When they arrived at the ranch, the waitress attempted to escape, according to the criminal complaint.
“She said as she tried to crawl for safety Andrew began to punch and kick her on the face and body,” according to the criminal complaint. “(The waitress) said she was then dragged and placed in a different car and driven to a hotel without her consent.”
Ramos sexually assaulted the waitress at the hotel, according to the criminal complaint. Officers arrested Ramos at the hotel.
He’s charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; two counts of aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony; and assault, a third-degree felony.
A judge set bond at $1,650,000.
Ramos remains at the Hidalgo County jail and couldn’t be reached for comment.
