Odor of marijuana leads to woman being charged with five counts of endangering a child

An investigation, by Harlingen police, in reference to a person with a gun leads the arrest of a woman for possession and endangering several children.

On Tuesday, August 11th, at around 9:40 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Haverford Blvd. about a man with a gun. The investigation lead officers to a home where they made contact with a woman, later identified as Maria Griselda Valdez, 31, and detected a strong odor of marijuana inside the residence.

Officers also found five children, ages ranging from 4 to 11, in the custody of Valdez and more marijuana in plain view of the kitchen area.

Valdez was arrested, charged with possession of marijuana and five counts of abandon/endangering a child with a bond totaling $52,000 dollars.
