One man was injured after being ‘struck’ by a stray bullet from the Edinburg Police Department gun range.

Sheriff Eddie Guerra confirmed that the man was ‘struck’ in the leg and suffered only minor injuries.

The incident occurred near the City of Edinburg on Friday evening.

According to a tweet from Sheriff Eddie Guerra, deputies responded to the area of Kenyon and Richardson Road.

We’re told that after an investigation, it was learned that the shots were coming from the Edinburg Police Department gun range.

The Edinburg Police Department tells CBS 4 that training was being conducted at their firing range located on the 1300 block of Doolittle Road.

Edinburg police added that they are conducting an ‘administrative’ investigation into the gun range following the incident and the range has been closed.

Their statement also added,

“This was an isolated incident with minimal/close to non serious injuries.”

We’re told that a vehicle and a house were also struck by a stray bullet.

It’s unclear at this time if it was the same bullet or a different bullet.
