One of the best part of being a member of being of the KVEO News Team is giving back to the community. What better way to give back, than take the rgvproud team and volunteer at the Children’s Museum of Brownsville. News Center 23’s Derick Garcia was there and made some new friends.
June 17th isn’t just an average Friday. June 17th, is Founder’s Day for KVEO News Center 23 and our parent company Nexstar, is giving back to the community in a big way!
President and CEO of Nexstar Broadcasting Group Perry Sook has always believed that serving the local community is at the very heart of Nexstar’s mission. Nexstar employees are known for giving back to their communities that led to the creation of “Founder’s Day”
This year marks the 20th Anniversary Founders Day. KVEO partnered with the Children’s Museum of Brownsville because it’s educational and fun!
Felipe Peña of the Children’s Museum of Brownsville says, “Meet new friends and all of a sudden have great relationships at the museum and play for hours and hours and not want to leave and that and what I think is at the end of the day the best part of it you know they have a great time”
For the families we played with giving back is good. From the KVEO News Center 23 family to yours, have a Happy Founder’s Day.
KVEO News Center 23 is joining our Nexstar Broadcasting sister stations across the country to celebrate Founder’s Day by giving back to the community. Here’s more from the Chairman, President and CEO of Nexstar Broadcasting Perry Sook.
“With June 17th being our 20th anniversary we set a goal of 20,000 hours of community service. The company will support that by giving every employee that registers 5 paid hours of time off to do service in the local communities.”
Sook has always believed that serving the community should be at the heart of every Nexstar television station. He hopes to make Founder’s Day an annual event. Here at KVEO News Center 23 we’re proud to be part of the effort.
