New Medical Research Facility Coming to the Valley

Local News

At UTRGV, an agreement between the university and Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, will be bringing a new medical research facility to the valley.

The 85,000 square foot facility will be used for educational research and clinical uses. And with the new school of medicine, school officials say the university will have more opportunities for healthcare advancement and economic development.

Patrick Gonzales a UTRGV Spokesman says, “Not only will we have impactful research that will help the community, but it’ll be a great recruiting tool for UTRGV to bring in top researchers, to bring in top students. And so we’re excited about that aspect as well.”

The building will be located in the city of McAllen and is expected to be completed in January of 2018.
