A new leader is taking the reigns at the Mission Boys & Girls Club.
Jose “JJ” Guerrero was named the new executive director of the club back on October 31.
Guerrero previously served with the Evangelical Church where he started a foundation called Ciudad de Refugio in Cochabamba, Bolivia to help orphans, the homeless, and battered women and children.
“He’s a great fit for the city and we are excited to have him at the helm,” Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña said in a press release. “The Bannworth Gym expansion is now complete and he is leading the charge to get registration going there and making it our second full service facility. I know he will continue to do good things for the children and families in Mission.”
Guerrero said he was excited about taking the position.
“The Boys and Girls Club of Mission is a staple in this community,” said Guerrero in a press release. “So many people in this town are products of our organization. The club has great support from the community and board members. When the opportunity arose, I was eager to accept the position and I know great things are coming.”
Guerrero added one of his main goals will include program development.
“I want to see quality staff giving a quality education, in our quality facilities. My plan is to continue to grow the Boys and Girls Club of Mission,” Guerrero said. “I am going to focus on helping families grow closer together. Our Mission kids are the future of this community and in reality, they are the future of this country.”
