National Donate Life Month at Valley Baptist Hospital

Local News

April is National Donate Life Month and the Valley Baptist Health System is honoring organ donors who have saved lives through the gift of organ and tissue donation.

The hospital unveiled their Wall of Heroes, a collection of photos of those who donated organs and tissues displayed on a wall in the Valley Baptist Hospital in Brownsville and Harlingen.

“Organ donation is such an important part of the family and our commitment to help and to giving the blessing of life to other people. We see organ donors and their families as the true heroes it’s important for us to highlight that incredible gift that comes at a terrible point of pain in peoples’ lives,” said Leslie Bingham, CEO of Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville.

The Valley Baptist Health also encourages the community to take time to register as an organ donor, which could save up to 8 lives.

Last year, 17,500 donors brought new life to recipients and their families.
