Jorge Olivarez was found dead at the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge

Norma Ortiz said she never got a chance to say goodbye to her father.

She and her sister Brenda Olivarez are in pieces.

“It’s been horrifying, it’s hard, everything that happened to my dad.”

Jorge Olivarez was killed while visiting the Rio Grande Valley from Minnesota back in September.

The McAllen native would come back home to visit family and keep in touch with his sisters.

“He would come visit my parents and call us to tell us how he was doing,” said Suzy Cagagal.

But no one knew he was in the valley last month, that is until an investigator called to give them the grave news that his decomposed body had been found near the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge.

All the family was told was that he had been brutally beaten and dumped out there.

The man suspected of committing the crime was believed to have fled the country.

No one had even heard of Everett James Morris, the man Jorge was staying with while in town.

“We don’t know who he is.”

For the last month and a half the family has made it their mission to get Morris’s picture out to the public through social media to bring him to justice.

Finally, their wish came true.

“We feel very relieved that this man has been caught,” said Brenda of her father’s suspected killer.

He will be brought back to Hidalgo County from Belize where he was hiding out to face a murder charge Tuesday morning and Jorge Olivarez’s family says they will be there every day to make sure their father/brother/son is not forgotten.

“I want that man to know what he did and how he hurt our family.”
