Today, the mother of the slain border patrol agent, Marie Vega, testified in the capital murder trial of Gustavo Tijernia-Sandoval, one of the suspects accused of killing her son, Javier Vega Jr.
Vega, and the audience of border patrol agents, were in tears, as she recalled what happened August 3, 2014, when the shooting took place.
“They had guns in their hands and they were shooting at us, and this one right there said ‘get down mother—-ers’,” she said pointing to Tijerina.
“And when I heard the first gunshot, I turned around and I saw my son go down,” she said.
“They have no remorse for human life because they knew there were children,” Vega said as attorneys objected.
Vega was not the only who testified today, Texas Rangers Donato Vela and Patrick O’Connor, the two men who interviewed Tijerina and other suspect Ismael Hernandez Vallejo, were cross-examined by the defense.
Who again brought up their failure to report Tijerina’s statements of being beat by officers, not allowing him to call his family, or stop the interview, and lying to Tijerina.
