Mother of drunk driver arrested by ICE

Local News

EDINBURG, Texas – Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorities arrest a woman at the Hidalgo County courthouse after her son was sentenced. 42-year-old Erika Gonzalez Zuniga was arrested on Thursday after her son Orlando Zuniga was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the death of an Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher. ICE officials tell Local 23 that Zuniga’s mother had previous theft convictions from 2003 to 2010 and had been issued a final order of removal by a federal immigration judge in 2005. According to ICE, courthouses are not considered sensitive locations, making the arrest legal.
