Monte Alto residents learned more about crime prevention during a community meeting Thursday night.
Attendees got the opportunity to learn about recent crime statistics and crime prevention techniques. Sheriff Eddie Guerra with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office said they spoke about starting a neighborhood watch program and that some in attendance weren’t aware of the Hidalgo County Crimestoppers tipline. He also told residents to be sure and secure their homes and their vehicles to prevent any possible crimes from occurring.
“We cannot do my job without the community and we want to let the community know that they are our biggest partner when it comes to solving crime and reducing crime.”
Guerra added that residents reported seeing an increase in reckless driving and racing calls. He added that if you see something, reach out to law enforcement and report it. You can reach the Hidalgo County Crimestoppers tipline at 956-668-TIPS.
