Mission priest delivers drive-by blessings for Mother’s Day

Local News

MISSION, Texas — Mothers across the Rio Grande Valley got their Mother’s Day blessings today by Our Lady of Guadalupe Father Roy Snipes.

The “Cowboy Priest” blessed hundreds of mothers on their day from a distance and from inside their cars.

Our Lady of Guadalupe remains closed, like many other churches, due to restrictions only allowing a 25 percent capacity.

However, that did not stop church members from recognizing mothers on the holiday.

“It shows that no one has given up…we are still united we are all united we are here they are here regardless of what is going on with the pandemic,” said Alberto Solis, pastoral assistant. “We are doing what we can and this is the most we can do and we are getting a good turn out.”

Every mother received a bag with a prayer card, goodies, and a flower.

Churches with the Diocese of Brownsville are closed until further notice.
