The new school year for Rio Grande Valley kids is about to start. But lots of parents don’t have the resources to buy their children school supplies.
That’s why school districts are pitching in to make sure students have the tools they need.
All thanks to donations and fund raisers.
Today, volunteers at Mission CISD packed backpacks with some of those school supplies. Two thousand backpacks were prepared at Bryan Elementary.
“The backpacks that are handed out to the families will save them money. It’s not meant to provide them with everything that they need, but it’s kind of a good starter.” Said Craig Verley Director of Public Relations at Mission CISD.
The supplies will be given out at the district’s school bash.
That’s Thursday August 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial High School.
