Migrant pleads guilty to assaulting Border Patrol Agent

Local News

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – A Guatemalan man in the country illegally has plead guilty to assaulting a Border Patrol Agent.

Federal authorities say 33-year-old Lorenzo Perechu-Tziquin was with a group of migrants who tried to circumvent the Border Patrol checkpoint near Falfurrias on March 27th.

The report indicates that Tziquin shoved and kicked an agent multiple times in the chest through a barb-wire fence to keep from getting arrested.

The suspect had previously been convicted of illegal entry and deported back in August of last year.

Tziquin faces up to 20 years for each count with the possibility of a $250,000 fine.
