The city of McAllen will be having their second Walk with the Mayor event on Saturday, Feb. 15.
The outdoor walking event aims to encourage the community to move and exercise for better health.
The walk is 3.4 miles and will start at the Bicentennial Boulevard on Harvey Avenue, then will head north to Dove Avenue and then will head back.
“We want people to be able to get the health benefits of moving, in a fun environment where the community encourages each other,” said Mayor Darling in the release. “It should be a really fun, yet purposeful exercise session to help get our McAllen residents walking.”
According to a press release, strollers, pets and kids of all ages are welcomed to participate.
Below is the schedule for the walk being held on Feb. 15.
- 8:30 a.m. – Registration
- 9:00 a.m. – Opening Welcome & Warm-Up Ceremony
