The McAllen Parks & Recreation Department released a statement addressing concerns over COVID-19.
The McAllen Parks & Recreation Department takes the health and safety of our community as a top priority. The City of McAllen has been and will continue to closely monitor information about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and recommendations from health officials to ensure every precaution is taken for the continued safety of our patrons.
The department adds they are suspending all senior living, youth evening and adult programs regularly scheduled until further notice.
They also inform that the department has increase cleaning, sanitation and it is encouraging workers to stay home if they are sick.
All city parks will remain open. The city says in the release they will monitor conditions to determine any adjustments needed.
Residents are encouraged to continue checking the Hidalgo County Health & Human Services Department and the Centers for Disease Control website for the most up-to-date information and guidance.
