MCALLEN – The McAllen Independent School District will web stream its graduation ceremonies for friends and family who may not be able to attend, but still enjoy this special milestone in each graduate’s life.

The district announced it is the 17th straight year McAllen ISD has live streamed its graduations. In past years, family members who lived out of town, those serving overseas in the armed forces, have viewed the events through the web. McAllen ISD began its graduation webcasts in 2004, said the district in a release.

Those interested in viewing the ceremonies live can click on the link on McAllen ISD’s main web page. It will be on the McAllen ISD Facebook page and McAllen ISD You Tube page.

The graduations will take place at DQ Fan Field at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium. Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, the graduations, originally scheduled for May 29-30, have moved to an outdoor facility. This will be the first time graduations have been held at the stadium since 2003.

Health & Safety

So that social distancing can be maintained, the stadium will not be filled to capacity. All graduates are allowed to invite four people to the event.

Each invitee must fill out and turn in a health questionnaire at the stadium entrance gate. The health questionnaire should be filled out beforehand. It can be downloaded and printed here.

Nurses will be on hand to pick up the questionnaires.

Bag policy

McAllen ISD does not allow back packs or duffle bags into the stadium. Bags will be subject to a hand scanning metal detector procedure. Please allow some extra time when arriving at the stadium.

Seating and dismissal

Family members may sit together, there will be six feet of distance between other families. Seating will be arranged in groups of one to four for the convenience of spectators.

It is highly recommended that all participants, students and spectators wear a face covering. Balloons are not allowed while horns and other noisemakers are discouraged.

At the end of the evening, please wait for the ushers to dismiss your row. Each row will be dismissed one at a time. Please exit the way you came in and respect social distancing at all times.
