The McAllen International Airport is seeing more and more passengers with a record number of people boarding flights in 2019.
The airport’s growth means that they continue to lead amongst the Rio Grande Valley’s airports, and they’re looking forward to that trend continuing.
MFE surpassed its historical enplanements, which means they saw an increase in the total number of passengers that board from their airport.
More than 430,000 flew out of McAllen, and the Director of Aviation attributes that to a growth in tourism that’s allowed for expansion.
All that means more revenue for the airport, and a better indication of what flights and which airlines best suit Valley residents.
“That means that there’s more aircraft landings, more fees and posts on some of those aircraft that land, but all the other non-aeronautical businesses as well like our restaurant business, our newsstand business, everybody makes a little bit more money,” Elizabeth Suarez says.
The McAllen International Airport is home to American Airlines, United, Allegiant, and Aeromar.
Travelers are encouraged to visit the airport’s website for more flight information.
