McAllen Couple Shot in Reynosa

Local News

The Mexican military says marines were not involved in an incident connected to a shooting of a McAllen couple.

The official report said the troops did come under fire by suspected cartel members throughout the day, April 4. The incident involving the McAllen residents is believed to be a case of mistaken identity. The shooters, according to authorities, were likely drug thugs fleeing from the marines.

The couple were shot multiple times as they made their way back from Reynosa, where they were buying groceries. Both are recovering from their gunshot wounds at a McAllen hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The American Consulate is involved, but will not release the victim’s names.
