The city of Brownsville is in good shape. That is according to Mayor Tony Martinez. The mayor hosted a State of the City address last night, highlighting the city’s achievements. Those achievements including SpaceX, revitalization of downtown, and the Brownsville Public Utilities Board’s restorations of resacas.
“Brownsville has always been the biggest city in the Rio Grande Valley. It’s the oldest city in the Rio Grande Valley, and therefore it should be the leader of the Rio Grande Valley and leading in a good way. Everybody can be part of our entire region, of our entire Rio Grande Valley so that we can offer opportunities. Whether they be jobs or educational components. Whether it be the medical school all these things are important for the entire region.” Said the mayor.
Mayor Martinez also praised the Brownsville-South Padre Island airport’s new terminal, the farmer’s market, hike and bike trails, and Texas Southmost College and UTRGV for providing excellent educational opportunities for residents.
