Man wanted in Elsa charged with assault

The Elsa Police Department, along with the US Marshall Service, arrested Jaime Lara Rios in Weslaco.

Rios was arraigned and charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. He is currently being held with a bond of $100,000.

” The Elsa Police Department would like to thank the US Marshall Service for their assistance in apprehending this individual.” said Elsa police in a release.


Elsa (Texas)— The Elsa Police Department is searching for a man that punched a woman several times to steal her vehicle.

Authorities are searching for 44 year-old Jaime Lara Rios.

According to a release, Elsa Police Department officials were dispatched to the parking lot of a Walmart located at 411 S. Broadway St on Saturday in reference to an aggravated robbery.

Upon arrival, officials encountered the 48-year-old victim who said Rios punched her in the face repeatedly and stole her 2004 dark gray Dodge Neon.

Rios is described as 5’5 and 165 lbs. He has brown eyes, black hair and a tattoo of the name “Laura” on his left forearm
