PHARR, Texas (ValleyCental) — The suspect in a deadly shooting turned himself in Tuesday morning, police announced.

On Monday, Pharr police responded to the 3400 block of N. Mezcal Drive where they found the body of 30-year-old Roberto Garza of Pharr.

Pharr Police Chief Johnny Gonzalez confirmed with ValleyCentral that police officers responded to the home around 8 p.m. When they arrived, they found Garza with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an update, police said an arrest warrant for 26-year-old Rheinchard Lara was issued. At 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Lara turned himself in at the Pharr Police Department.

Lara was arraigned at the Pharr Municipal Court Wednesday on a charge of first-degree murder. he was issued a $750,000 bond. The judge said this crime is punishable by up to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
