A Harlingen man is facing murder charges after being accused of using brass knuckles to fatally beat another man who spent two weeks in the hospital before passing away.

Esequiel Martinez turned himself in to Harlingen police late Tuesday morning.

Harlingen police told Action 4 News that Martinez is accused in the death of Leroy Mena.

Investigators reported that Martinez used brass knuckles to beat Mena on the 1600 block of Sam Houston Street back on Saturday, February 22nd.

Mena spent two weeks in the hospital before passing away at Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi on Saturday.
